The player's defensive play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
